Developer Information
This page contains information of use to developers, such as how the project infrastructure works, and where to find things.
The project is hosted on buildd.emdebian.org. The DNS is managed by SPI Inc. along with the other Debian domains. You need a login to make changes on the buildd machine. Send Wookey an ssh key for logging in and a preferred login name to get registered.
Tasks within Emdebian are generated, discussed, patched, fixed and processed on the Debian Bug Tracking System, especially the buildd.emdebian.org psuedo-package.
We also use the debian wiki for recording useful info. Generally useful info is slowly migrated to the main website.
The Mailing list is debian-embedded@lists.debian.org. See mailing list. and archives for details. This is hosted by the Debian project.
There is also an irc channel #emdebian on the irc.debian.org server. This is heavily used for day-to-day discussion and admin.
Currently, the server is on a new colo-located machine donated by Toby Churchill Ltd and hosts the website, subversion code, repository and toolchain build system. Thanks very much to Nick Davidson and others at Toby Churchill for sorting this out and doing the initial server setup.
Many thanks to Allen Curtis and Klein Henz for providing server support for Emdebian on the past.
All Embedded Debian's tools are in svn - support scripts and packages, source patch files, and the website.
The webpages are generated using WML (do make to generate them and make install to copy the resultant html and pics into a suitable hierarchy with a set of links for the default language (english). The website is in the website module in svn, and is a slightly simplified and modified verion of Debian's 'webwml' module. This allows multilingual pages should we ever get big enough to need them. The site is checked out from svn and regenerated once a day (overnight) on www.emdebian.org
